Enriching Our Community Through Polo
Equus Charities of the Lowcountry is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization dedicated to enriching our community through the sport of polo. Based at the historic Rose Hill Equestrian Center in Bluffton, South Carolina, we bring together friends, families, and neighbors for world-class equestrian events that raise vital funds for local causes.
Our flagship event, the Rose Hill Charity Polo Match, continues a tradition that began on Hilton Head Island over fifty years ago. Each match champions a different local organization, ensuring every event makes a direct and lasting impact on the Lowcountry community.
The Lowcountry is one of polo's most storied regions. Through our events, we honor that heritage while giving back to those who need it most.

Rose Hill Charity Polo Match
The Lowcountry came together for an unforgettable afternoon of polo, community, and giving. Roughly 2,000 guests enjoyed world-class equestrian sport, live music, local food vendors, and VIP tailgating at the Dr. Sandy S. Termotto Polo Field.
Polo in the Lowcountry
Polo in the Lowcountry began in 1974, when Dr. Sandy Termotto, Frederick Hack, Bill Ruth, and Billy Roe carved out a playing field at Honey Horn Plantation on Hilton Head Island. The sport took root immediately, captivating spectators with its blend of athleticism, elegance, and community spirit.
In 1982, polo found a permanent home at Rose Hill Plantation, quickly becoming a destination for equestrian sport, Southern hospitality, and philanthropic giving across the Southeast.
Today, the Rose Hill Charity Polo Match continues this legacy — not only as a celebration of the sport, but as a gathering that raises vital funds for Lowcountry causes. The field, now named in Dr. Termotto's honor, stands as a testament to the vision that brought polo to our shores over half a century ago.
